Hi brother, i was wondering if you could use injectable melanotan 1 or 2 instead of the MSCH2= thanks in advance 😉
-
Yep, you can certainly take melanotan II. I’ve tested it intranasally and it works. Just make sure you consistently check your blood pressure as it can cause it to rise in some people. http://www.blueskypeptide.com/melanotan-ii-10-mg.html

Hi Lostfalco I have just arrived to your site and I am a little lost as I have not got all of what you and others are saying ( a bit above me 72 and retired building trade in the uk) but it sure beats talking to my doc I am feeling the effects of brain fog, always was alert but having trouble with short term memory its getting very frustrating of course as most men prostate problems as well to contend with it would seem Budilast could be a start I am willing to give it a try if it is available sorry I may not be as conversant as your other emailers but I will try thanks Don Howells

Hey Jerry, I have tried vasopressin but not hydergine. Do you have a reliable source?
-
-
Haha Yeah, I unified general relativity and quantum mechanics while on vasopressin. =)
Actually, I really liked vasopressin for a short term mental boost.

Hi lostfalco. Big fan here. You say that Big Six is fundamental and comes before all supplements and devices. I would like to see a post with your thoughts on implementing the big six. E.g. sample food for day, macronutrient profile, what kind of meditation and how often, etc. Thanks!
-
Thanks, thepractice. I apprecite it!
A post on The Big Six is very high on my priority list. I should be getting to it this summer…I hope. =)

Hey Lostfalco,
Tell me, can you be certain of the benefits of these things whilst your presumably consistent Big 6 schedule is also in effect? Or are you a mere mortal like the rest of us, with unhealthy lapses here and there which you prefer to address with more straightforward and simple supplementation via the routine you have described on this website? One more question – do you have any simple theory as to why it is that we need to reduce the body’s baseline level of inflammation to make ourselves more effective human beings? The Paleo community would look on your methods unfavourably, I’m sure – but many of us also understand that what is ‘natural’ is not necessarily what is best, even if we can’t always explain why.
-
haha Don’t worry Conor, I definitely consider myself a mere mortal. My point with the Big 6 (diet, exercise, sleep, meditation, fasting, and standing) is that they are more fundamental than any supplement or pharmaceutical.
I don’t use supplements to make up for lapses. I primarily use them to test the effects that enhancing or inhibiting certain mechanisms will have on my cognition.
I don’t think reducing inflammation is a universal necessity to be more effective as a human. Some people have perfectly healthy levels of inflammation and don’t need to worry about it.
I have no doubt that many people would look unfavorably on what I’m doing. They’re perfectly entitled to their views. =)

Thanks for the response. I should clarify that I was referring to your 2 step Brain Fog process. Let me phrase my question this way: Have these two chemicals (which do indeed show a great deal of clinical significance) replaced some anti-inflammatory and cognition related components of your regime, or have they moreso added a separate benefit?
I ask because the way that you have specifically described these two chemicals in such detail implies that they are especially important, no? So I just wonder whether these two are better than other anti-inflammatories and nootropics, or provide a different separate benefit, or maybe you are just describing them together because they share especially specific and synergistic mechanisms of action?
In your opinion, of course. I can only guess that it is some combination of the three, but I may be reasoning too simplistically to categorize it that way.
-
No problem.
I would consider them an added benefit to my regimen. There are many ways to target inflammation related brain fog and these are just two (pretty fundamental) tools among hundreds one could employ.
Think of it this way. You have ‘inputs to the system’ (food, water, oxygen, stress, sleep), the ‘system itself’ (your body), and ‘outputs of the system’ (brain fog in this case).
Stress is implicated in brain fog so you could attempt to remove that ‘input’ by slowing your lifestyle, meditating, exercising, etc.
Lack of sleep is implicated as well so you could block blue light, get black out blinds, try melatonin, get on a consistent schedule, etc.
Food allergies are associated with inflammation and brain fog so you could try to identify and eliminate those, etc.
That’s more of an ‘input’ approach. I chose to attempt to modify the system itself (for this blog post =)). Microglia are the primary immune cells in the brain and the cholinergic anti-inflammatory pathway is a master regulator of inflammation for the entire body. Seemed like two pretty fundamental places to start given this assumption: modifying the ‘system’ will ameliorate brain fog.
Ibudilast targets microglia (though it also helps with peripheral inflammation) and galantamine targets the cholinergic anti-inflammatory pathway. The substances are just means to an end. The pathways matter more. If better substances for each pathway are available then I’m all for testing them out. So, it’s the pathways not the chemicals per se that are especially important. I choose part of your option #3…’synergistic mechanisms of action’. =)
With that said, chemical-wise ibudilast is tough to beat. Galantamine is very beatable however. I’m hoping GTS-21 fits the bill but only time will tell.

AuthorSure. Hope it cleared things up a bit.
Yeah, I’ve definitely considered it. Reports should be coming in pretty soon. Ibudilast takes a few weeks to get here so I think most people are probably just getting it right now.
We’ll see if it helps anyone other me. Fingers crossed!
